We are open year round; however, if you are visiting during our peak period (May through October),
it would be wise to make a reservation at the beginning of the year.
We will email you a Reservation Confirmation Form, which has all the information
like the time, place, date, deposit info and total costs.
All deposits are due 24 hours after making your reservation.
Your credit card information may be taken over the phone or, if you desire,
we will send you our safe PayPal Link.
If your deposit is not received within 24 hours, your reservation is
NOT confirmed and we may sell your slots to others.
If Smoky Mtn. Llama Treks cancels any trek due to bad weather,
you will receive a full refund of your deposit, minus any credit card processing fees.
However, if YOU cancel your trek for ANY reason, you do not receive a refund.
We do hike in light rain or drizzle and also, in light snow.
If the weather conditions are stormy, dangerous or with lightning, we will cancel the trek
and you will receive a full refund, minus any credit card processing fees.
No, ALL trails are located off farm property.
Each trek has a DIFFERENT trail and a different location.
Before the date of your trek, we will email you exact, simple directions to the trail
that you will be hiking on. Please give yourself extra travel time if you are not familiar with the area.
As a courtesy, we usually wait about 30 minutes.
If you have not arrived within 30 minutes of the start time, we will begin the trek without you.
It is not fair for others to wait any longer than that.
Unfortunately, if you are late and we leave without you, you will lose your deposit.
No, our insurance does not cover anyone under 6 yrs old.
No, we do not allow any dogs on any trek.
They upset the llamas and take peoples' attention away from the scenery and peaceful atmosphere.

If this should happen, unfortunately, you will NOT receive a refund.

as the llamas will not have room for them. If you feel you MUST bring extra items,
then you will have to carry it yourself. We do provide a first aid kit on every trek.
NO! Our llamas have been raised properly and specially trained not to spit at people.
They will not kick you even if you walk directly behind them.
However, we do warn small children not to stand directly behind them where the llama
can't see them and may get startled.
The llama will probably just stand and wait for you to pick it up, or may wander to the
side for a grass snack. There is no need to panic or chase after the llama.
We will inform you of the 3 poisonous plants that the llamas can't eat.
We will also show you photos of each and point out the plants when we pass by them.
If a llama accidentally grabs a bad leaf or two, don't panic, scream or try to rip it from its' mouth.
A few leaves are harmless.

But, every llama has a different personality, and some don't like their ears or head petted.

There are some trails where we walk in the creek and your feet will get wet.
Please ask beforehand and bring water shoes to change into.
If it has been rainy a few days before your trek, expect some mud on all trails.
There is usually some llama manure scattered about on all trails.
On horse trails, there may be horse manure also, however it is usually dried up and off to the side.
The llamas will most likely always “go” while standing in the water.
We have NEVER had this happen to anyone in 11 years. However, if it should happen, do not panic.
We are trained and certified in CPR and Basic First Aid. Please bring an EpiPen if you are allergic.
All our trails are circular loops and end up at the same trailhead where we began.
